Medication Awareness
Target Audience: This course of attendance is a suitable introduction for all members of staff who might come into contact with medication as part of their job.
The Objectives/ Learning Outcome For This Course Will Be:
- Understand the legislation involved with drug administering.
- Follow procedures set for safe administration of medication.
- Understand the importance of confidentiality and security in all procedures of drug administering.

Student Numbers: There is a maximum of 12 places available.
Validation of Certification: 3 years
Course Times: 2.5 hours
Issues that continue to arise:
- The wrong drug was administered
- Too much medication was given
- Too little medication was given
- Medication was missed, or was given too late or too early
- Staff administering medication, were not adequately trained
- Medications where left unattended in a communal place or were lost
- Mistakes in records of medication administration
