Principles of Manual Handling
Target Audience:
This course is aimed at those who carry out Manual Handling Activities at work and introduces delegates to hazards of manual handling, the risks involved and controls available and what to expect from a Manual Handling assessment.
The Objectives / Learning Outcome:
- To explain what is meant by the term manual handling and give examples.
- To explain how Manual Handling can cause injury and give examples.
- To state the principles for controlling Manual Handling risks and apply these in a practical context.
- To demonstrate a general understanding of the value and purpose of conducting a manual handling assessment and what employees can expect of such assessments.
Course Details:
There is a maximum of 12 places available.
Validation of Certification: 3 years.
Course Duration:
3 hours. (In-House)
4 hours. (Accredited)
Course Materials:
All students will receive course handouts and certificates will be forwarded upon successful completion of the course.

- Manual Handling Techniques
Assessment:
- If you book this course as a (In-House) course the assessment is continual through out.
- If you book this course as an (Accredited) course there is short multi choice paper of 30 questions with a pass mark of 20.
There is a maximum time limit of 1 Hour.
You are not allowed any assistance to complete the answers.
Important Notice:
Candidates should understand the scope of legal requirements, and be able to out line the general legal responsibilities of employers, employees and the self-employed under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (as amended),
The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999. Explain the duty placed on employers to provide information, instruction and training to those exposed to manual handling risks. Demonstrate an awareness of HSE guidance publications and where they can be found.
