Sports Related Emergency First Aid
Target Audience: For anyone involved in sports activities, perhaps as a participant, coach, or helper, this course provides the knowledge and skills to effectively manage sports injuries and emergencies at an event or during training. This course is suitable for students enrolled on the following, CSLA (Community Sports Leader Awards) and coaching awards at any level; including Rugby, Football, canoeing, cricket, and all contact sports.
The Objectives / Learning Outcome For This Course Will Be: This course has specific information for the treatment of people involved in a first aid accident within sport.
Course Content:
- What to do in an emergency
- Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation
- First Aid for Wounds and Bleeding
- Dealing with common medical conditions
- Skeletal System
- Sprains & Strains
- Fractures & Dislocation and their treatment
- Spinal Injuries and their Management
- Airway management
By applying appropriate emergency treatment, potentially serious injuries can often be limited when playing sport, and the casualty reassured by a confident and professional approach.
Student Numbers: There is a maximum of 12 places available.
Validation of Certification: 3 years
Course Times:
Option 1 - 9.30am – 3.00pm
Option 2 - 2 (3 hour sessions)
Course Materials: All students will receive a course book, and certificates will be forwarded upon successful completion of the course.
